Intelligent Solutions for guy wire tension measurement
Direct measurement systems
The SMART-GUY R-146 uses a direct method of measurement. The technology takes on the guy-wire’s full tension and as strain gages are installed on the rods of the frame, the device measures the accurate guy-wire entire tension. Please watch the installation video. The PULSE METHOD (using the stop watch) and the THREE POINTS device method, are indirect methods, where you have to assume that your formulas are correct for your specific test. The problem is that the guy-wire elasticity depends on corrosion, fatigue, dust and ice collected between the strands. In addition human error must be factored in to the calculations. Hence, by using an indirect method, it is necessary to consider various factors, to correct the formulas, which will have an impact on the entire guy wire tension equation. In the case of the direct method, you do not need to know any parameters of the wire (length, section, number of strands). The device will take on the entire actual wire tension and the force displayed digitally and accurately represents the true tension.

Efortless method for acurate results
A direct method to accurately measure the actual guy wire tensions in the field. The method performs the measurement without changing the guy length.
Tensioner Frame and Intelligent Reader
The method consists of using the Smart-Guy device, model R-164 witch includes a Tensioner Frame and an Electronic Reader.
Accurately measure the load force
By tightening the Tensioner installed between thimble and turnbuckle the connection pin will be fully tension released and the Tensioner can accurately mesure the cable load force.
